Each Ghanaian baby basket takes three days to make. The weavers work with the hardy veta vera grasses that are native to northern Ghana, while the leather used for  the basket handle comes from the food industry and can also be removed at any time.

Handmade products often have a unique charm and character that cannot be replaced by machine-made items, and the fact that weavers rely on this work as a second source of income highlights the importance of fair trade practices.

The use of indigenous materials and food industry waste also demonstrates a commitment to sustainable and responsible resource management. All these factors come together to create a product that is not only beautiful and functional, but also supports the livelihoods of the weavers and contributes to a more ethical and sustainable global economy.
